  • The final two worksheets should be printed in black and white for the child to complete.

  • Ask the question. " Have you ever smelled the scent described as Pumpkin Spice?" Explain that this scent, also used in the making of a Pumpkin Pie and many other autumn baked goods, is made up of several different spices.
  • On the "Pumpkin Spice Identification Page," read through the names of the spices, and ask if the spices sound familiar. Also ask the question, "Have you ever seen any of these spices in their whole form?"
  • Using your fabric spice bag, have a child draw a spice from the bag. Then have them place the spice on the correct section of the "Pumpkin Spice Identification Page." Continue this activity until the child has properly identified and placed all the spices.
  • The "Fun Facts Matching Pages" can be customized for various child age groups. For older children, it may be appropriate to have the children match fun facts, spice names, and spice images to an entirely blank worksheet. For younger children, you may wish to only match the name or the image. Print the worksheets that best fit your child/children.
  • Please note that these worksheets are for instructional purposes. It may be appropriate to laminate them and use them for small group instruction at a round table, or to project them onto a board.
  • Using your fabric spice bag, have the child draw a fun fact, spice name, or spice image from the bag. Then have them place it on the correct section of the "Fun Facts Page." Continue this activity until the child has properly identified and placed all the spices, names, and images.

Have the children color and cut out the spice names on the worksheet. Match the spice name to the proper image.

  • Place each ground spice in a numbered zip-lock bag, 1-6.
